Chandigarh: Sale and use of all types of tobacco products has been banned within the limits of the base area of the Municipal Council of Sultanpur Lodhi by the district administration.

The ban has been imposed by district magistrate Vishesh Sarangal. These orders will be in force from January 11, 2023 to March 11, 2023.

Strict orders have been issued to senior superintendent of police Kapurthala and sub-divisional magistrate Sultanpur Lodhi in this regard and they have been asked to ensure the same.

Sultanpur Lodhi was declared a holy city on October 13, 2010 by the Department of Home Affairs and Justice, Government of Punjab. Therefore, there was a demand for a complete ban on the sale and use of tobacco products in Sultanpur Lodhi.

In view of this, orders have been issued by the District Magistrate to ban it today.
