Chandigarh: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and patron Ranjit Singh Brahmpura has passed away on Tuesday. Senior congress leader Ranjit Singh Brahmpura breathed his last at the PGI in Chandigarh.

Ranjit Singh Brahmpura was admitted to the hospital for the last five days. He passed away due to a heart attack.

His last rites will be performed at 2 pm tomorrow at his native village Brahmpura. Various political personalities, including Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal, will be present.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal expressed grief and said that passing away of tireless Panthic warrior and Akali stalwart Jathedar Ranjit Singh Ji Brahmpura is a massive loss to Panth, Punjab and to Shiromani Akali Dal. This blow has created a void that would be hard to fill.

Meanwhile, Ranjit Singh Brahmpura was a four-time MLA, two-time cabinet minister and once a Lok Sabha member.
