To avoid the extreme heat as much as possible. Richmond schools will again not be in session from tomorrow.
Elementary Schools:
“Internal temperatures in our schools are very hot today and temperatures are not expected to drop significantly for tomorrow according to the weather forecast. We will therefore only be opening schools tomorrow morning for students to pick up items such as report cards or belongings they may need to take home with them over the summer. Staff will be in attendance at schools to distribute items first thing in the morning at the usual school start time, and then students will be immediately dismissed for the summer. If students do not need to pick anything up from school, we ask that parents/caregivers keep their children at home tomorrow.” says Scott Robinson, Superintendent of Schools.
*We understand that there are some elementary schools where the grade seven leaving ceremony was scheduled to occur either today or tomorrow. In those cases, parents can expect to hear directly from their child’s principal or teacher with an update.
Secondary Schools:
“Last Friday was the last formal day of classes for secondary schools. If students do not need to pick anything up from school, we ask that parents/caregivers keep their children at home tomorrow. We understand that some secondary schools are still in the process of distributing items such as yearbooks, scholarship letters and awards. If this is the case for your child’s school, you can anticipate receiving communication directly from your child’s school regarding the process for distribution.”, Scott added.
