Chandigarh: A video describing sheer-misuse of Punjab government’s ‘Ration scheme’ has surfaced from Hoshiarpur today. In this viral video, a person came to get subsidised wheat at Rs 2 per kg in a Mercedes, which has now sparked a row on the social media.
The man parked the Mercedes car outside the government’s depot. He took 4 bags of ration from there and put these in the trunk of the Mercedes and left. The number of this Mercedes was also VIP. This whole incident was recorded in the video by a local person present there.
Following this viral video, Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Minister Lalchand Kataruchak has ordered an inquiry in this matter.
After facing flak, the person driving the Mercedes clarified, “I am a poor man. This car belongs to a relative. My children also study in government schools.”
He said that Mercedes belongs to my relative. They live abroad and their car is parked in the plot near our house. Being a diesel car, he sometimes drives it. He said that he runs a small videography shop.
Government makes card of below poverty population
In this case, the depot holder said that the cards were made by the government and the department.
“We have no role in it. The government has instructed us to give ration to people having this card, We can’t comment on how this person’s card was made,” the person said on the request of anonymity.
The AAP government to start home delivery of flour
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Punjab is going to start home delivery of flour from October 1.
Apart from this, the government will investigate whose card is made wrong. Many rich people are clandestinely receiving benefits of government’s schemes meant for poor people due to their political links, government officials said.
