Ottawa: Qubec Cardinal Marc Ouellet, who is regarded as a potential successor to Pope Francis, is being accused of sexual assault in a class-action lawsuit against Quebec diocese.
Cardinal Marc Ouellet is among some 88 members of the clergy who are facing allegations of sexual assault.
An unnamed woman in her plea introduced Tuesday in Supreme Court accuses the prominent cleric of kissing her at a cocktail reception in 2008 and later touching her buttocks.
The documents produced in the court contained detailed accusations against 88 clergy members including Cardinal Ouellet.
This lawsuit represents over 100 victims, most of them are minors, who were allegedly physically assaulted by priests and other staff working for the diocese since 1940.
