Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today asserted that his government has left no stone unturned to ensure justice in singer Sidhu Moosewala murder case.
CM’s statement came a day after the slain singer’s father Balkaur Singh had threatened to withdraw the FIR lodged in the case. Balkaur Singh had said he would withdraw the FIR if his late son’s name was linked to gangsters.
“We have left no stone unturned to ensure justice,” the Chief Minister said in Pathankot. All accused linked to the case are being arrested on a regular basis. Wherever we get a clue, we make arrests in this case.”
Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh had had given an ultimatum to state government that he would leave the country if justice was not meted out to him before November 25.
Mann, who was in Pathankot to take stock of the paddy procurement arrangements, termed Moosewala’s killing as a very serious issue. The CM said the police had arrested those who had planned to attack and kill the singer and a charge sheet had already been filed in the case.
He said the Punjab government had requested the Centre to issue a Red Corner Notice for the arrest of the accused sitting in Canada so that they could be brought to justice. Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu alias Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29. Balkaur Singh had claimed that his son was murdered under a well-planned conspiracy and it was not the result of gang war.
