Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has now decided to crack down on the government officials who have secured Permanent Residency of foreign countries while serving in the government.

A order has been issued to identify such officers and Punjab Vigilance Bureau is collecting information from all the government departments to ascertain which officials have secured PR and went to the foreign countries.

The Bhagwant Mann government has taken this step so that corrupt officials do not take shelter in foreign countries.

He said that after committing corruption in many officials, got PR in abroad to escape inquiries in Punjab.

Two days back, government dismissed Rakesh Singla, Deputy Director in the Food and Supply Department and one of the main accused in the tender allotment scam.

He was sacked from the services under the Punjab Civil Services Rules for allegedly leaving the country without taking proper leave and approval. Singla is now now PR in Canada.

According to a previous survey, 130 officers and employees of Punjab have PR and now numbers would rise as the government is identifying officials from all departments.
