Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has taken major action against gun culture. The Punjab government has cancelled licences of 813 guns given in the state on Saturday.
The Punjab government has said that rules have to be followed for possession of guns. Now, carrying and displaying weapons at public gatherings, religious places, marriage ceremonies or any other event is prohibited in Punjab.
The government says that random checking will be done in different areas in the coming days. Those glorifying violence and weapons will be completely banned. A total of 3. 73 lakh arms licenses have been given in Punjab.
Today, 87 are from Ludhiana Rural, 48 from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, 10 from Gurdaspur, 84 from Faridkot, 199 from Pathankot.
Arms licences of 47 people from Hoshiarpur, six from Kapurthala, 235 from SAS town, 16 from Sangrur, 27 from Amritsar commissionerate, 11 from Jalandhar commissioner’s office and several other districts have been cancelled.
Meanwhile, so far, the Punjab government has cancelled more than 2,000 arms licences.
