Chandigarh: Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit has asked the Punjab government to take action against Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, who is facing charges of “sexual misconduct”.
“Kataruchak has committed a heinous crime. The accused minister has no right to be in the cabinet,” Governor told CM Punjab Bhagwant Mann and asked him to must take immediate action against him.
Governor BL Purohit said he has asked the CM to take action against the accused minister again. He said he also demanded action through the media. In fact, the Governor has been asking CM Mann to take action since the forensic report of the alleged video of Kataruchak came, but the situation has not yet been clarified by the Punjab government.
In this case, an SIT has been formed under the leadership of DIG Narinder Bhargava on behalf of the Punjab government.
Earlier, Governor Banwari Lal Purohit today held a meeting with the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Haryana on matters related to Panjab University in Chandigarh. After this, he informed the media that a meeting will be held again on June 5 between all the parties.
During this, he also gave information about his visit to the border areas on June 7-8.
The governor said he would visit the border area soon. He said that he will also meet people living around the border area. During this time, he will also examine the cases that have become a challenge to the border areas.
“We will also get information about how much the smuggling of drugs from the border area has been curbed,” he added.
