Chandigarh: The cases of appointment of Vice Chancellor (VC) of Baba Farid Medical University and Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) of Punjab have been caught in legal wrangling. In both cases, the government has not received approval from the university’s chancellor and Punjab governor Banwarilal Purohit.
Despite this, the Government of Punjab has appointed Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal as the VC of PAU, while the Governor has declared it illegal.
As a result, Governor Banwarilal Purohit is now seeking legal opinion in these matters. While CM Bhagwant Mann is busy campaigning in Adampur in Haryana and Gujarat. Due to the non-appointment of permanent VC in both the universities, many administrative works of the university have been delayed.
According to sources, the VC of Sports University Patiala has sought leave for foreign tour. The Governor has asked the government who will be given additional charge during this period.

The tussle between CM Bhagwant Mann and Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit is bound to have an impact on the administrative work of the two universities, which will affect Punjab’s education system.
In fact, the main decisions are taken by the VC of the university. VC has the responsibility of the chairman of the finance committee and VC also plays an important role in the appointments made in the university, but due to the absence of permanent appointment of VC, such administrative work is incomplete.
