Toronto: The Transport Ministry said it was “constantly monitoring” the situation, in light of an incident that left thousands of passengers stranded in Mexico due to a storm this week. The ministry also said that such a situation cannot be accepted.
A ministry spokesman said Transport Canada is contacting airlines and airports to ensure that all passengers are safe. He also said that safety of passengers and staff is government’s top priority.
It is worth mentioning that a large number of flights were canceled due to the snowstorm by Sunwing Vacations Inc., which led to a major disturbance. Other airlines also faced problems but due to sunwing vacation destinations, many travelers were stuck abroad.
Apart from this, many passengers also complaining about the airline not making any contact. The Passengers did not even know at what time they would return home. The spokesperson also said that situations like those of Sunwing Airlines cannot be accepted. Canadians rightly think that airlines should inform them and that any disturbances can be corrected in due course of time.
It also said Canadians can file their complaints with the Canadian Transportation Agency. Our government will ensure that their rights are protected.
