Chandigarh: Former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal, who have been named as an accused by the SIT in the Kotkapura firing case related to the Bargari sacrilege case, arrived in Faridkot appeared before the Court on Thursday.

A large number of SAD workers from all districts of Malwa as well as Punjab have reached Faridkot since morning in support of 95-year-old SAD patron Parkash Badal.

Parkash Badal, came out of his house after a long time for any public appearance. SAD chief and former deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal also reached the Faridkot court. During this, slogans were raised by the supporters in favor of Badal.

After a long time, SAD workers are showing enthusiasm and they are seen raising slogans in favour of Badal.

On February 24, 2022, the SIT filed a 7,000-page charge sheet in the Faridkot court in the Kotkapura firing case. The charge sheet was filed in faridkot court on February 24 by a team led by ADGP LK Yadav and SSP Bathinda Gulneet Singh Khurana.

These include Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal, former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, then IG Paramraj Umranangal, SSP Moga Charanjit Sharma, SSP Faridkot Sukhmander Mann, DIG Ferozepur Amar Singh Chahal and then SHO City Kotkapura Gurdeep Singh.

This is the whole case

Sikh organisations had launched protests in Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan after the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari in Faridkot on October 12, 2015. On October 14, the police ended the protests in Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan with the use of force. Two Sikh youths were killed in police firing in Behbal Kalan.

At the same time, about 100 protesters were injured in the Kotkapura firing incident. On August 7, 2018, the police had registered a case of attempt to murder against unidentified persons.

Earlier, Parkash Badal and Sukhbir Badal got anticipatory bails in the case.
