Grand Forks: The Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) has been notified after an incident in Grand Forks where a man suffered serious injuries.
BC RCMP said on August 12, Grand Forks RCMP came to know about a possible stolen vehicle at a residence. “When officers reached the scene, they encountered a man who retreated into the home.”
The RCMP set up containment and additional officers, including members of the Emergency Response Team, were called in.
“Multiple attempts over several hours forced the man leave the home before he reportedly walked out carrying a weapon. One officer discharged their firearm striking him,” BC RCMP said.
The man was taken to hospital by Emergency Health Services before receiving first aid.
The IIO BC is investigating police actions in the incident.
