New Delhi: A police van carrying Aftab Poonawalla, an accused in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, has been attacked. The attack took place outside the FSL in Rohini.
It is said that the attackers have tried to attack with a sword. Police said the accused, Aftab, is safe. Police have detained the men who attacked Aftab’s jail van.
Police have arrested two persons in connection with the case. One is Nigam Gujjar and the other is Kuldeep Thakur. Both are residents of Gurugram. They are claiming themselves to be from the Hindu Army, it is being verified. The search for the rest is underway.
The police van was taking Aftab Poonawalla back to jail from the Forensic Science Laboratory in West Delhi’s Rohini after a polygraph test, the sources said. As soon as the jail van came out, he put his car in front of this van.
The driver of the van tried to push the van forward, after which these people got out of the car and attacked it with a sword. Aftab came from jail in the van of the Third Battalion of Delhi Police.
Sensing danger, the jawans of the 3rd Battalion took out their weapons and waved them in the air. After this, they took Aftab safely. No one was injured in the incident. Police are taking legal action in the case.
The Third Battalion of Delhi Police works to bring and transport prisoners. Aftab will undergo a polygraph test again tomorrow. Between 10 am and 11 am, he will be brought to the FSL lab in Rohini.
