New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben passed away at 9:26 am on Friday. Narendra Modi lit the pyre. During the last journey, he left his home in Gandhi Nagar with his mother’s body on his shoulder.

Heeraben Modi passed away at 3:30 am on Friday at UN Mehta Hospital. She was 100 years old. She was admitted to the hospital late on Tuesday night after she complained of breathlessness.

Modi himself gave information about the death through a tweet. After this, he reached Ahmedabad at 7:45 am. From here, he went straight to brother Pankaj Modi’s house in Raisan village of Gandhinagar. The body was kept there. The final journey began as soon as Modi arrived. The last rites were performed at the cremation ground in Sector-30.

Modi did not cancel any of his scheduled programs. After the funeral, he went straight to Raj Bhavan in Ahmedabad. They joined the National Ganga Council meeting being held virtually in Bengal from here. He launched Vande Bharat connecting Howrah with New Jalpaiguri.
