New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the hospital in Cuttack to meet injured in the train accident in Odisha o Saturday. Earlier, PM Modi also visited the site in Balasore.
During this time, PM Modi was accompanied by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and many other officials.
Around 300 passengers have died so far in the train accident in Balasore on Friday night. Over 900 people are said to be injured. In fact, several coaches of the Coromandel Express derailed, after which it collided with another train coming from the front on the second line and painful accident occurred.
PM Modi said the Commissioner of Railway Safety has been called and an inquiry will be conducted by them to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Ashwini Vaishnaw said that at present the main focus is on relief and rescue operations. Teams of railways, NDRF, SDRF and state government have been engaged in rescue operations since last night.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday said the train accident in Odisha’s Balasore was the “biggest of this century” and a proper investigation was needed to find out the truth.
Banerjee, who served twice as railway minister, reached the accident site to oversee the rescue operation. He spoke to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and other senior officials already present there.
