Morbi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting in Morbi to review the situation in the wake of the Morbi bridge collapse. PM Modi also visited the site of the incident in Morbi on Tuesday. He also met the injured at the Civil Hospital in Morbi, which has killed 135 people so far.

The PM asked officials should remain in touch with the affected families and ensure that they get all possible help in this sad hour. Officials briefed the PM about the rescue operation and assistance to the affected people. CM was also present in the meeting.

PM Modi said that the need of the hour is to conduct a detailed and comprehensive investigation which will identify all aspects related to this accident. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi, Minister in the Gujarat government Brijesh Merja, Gujarat Chief Secretary, State DGP, Local Collector, SP, Inspector General of Police, MLAs and MPs among others.

Earlier, PM conducted an aerial survey of the area after reaching Morbi. This bridge used to connect Darbargarh Palace with Swaminarayan Temple. He reached Darbargarh Palace where officials briefed him about the accident and the possible cause of the bridge collapse.

Met the injured, victims’ families in hospital

After visiting the site of the incident, the PM went to the local hospital where he met the injured and enquired about their well-being. He also interacted with those engaged in rescue and relief work and appreciated their patience.
