Toronto: One person was killed and a police officer seriously injured after three vehicles collided with each other on Highway 401 in Pickering on Friday morning due to a vehicle coming from a wrong-way.
Provincial police said the accident occurred shortly after 5:00 a.m. in the western wall lanes of the highway on Brock Road. Police said the accident occurred due to the collision of three vehicles. One of these vehicles was on its way east in the western lanes when it collided head-on with another vehicle.
Police said that a 55-year-old man died in the accident while a 28-year-old driver from Ajax sustained serious injuries. A 25-year-old male driver from Whitby was charged with impaired driving. He has been detained for further investigation.
