Chandigarh: As Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ekta-Sidhupur) president Jagjit Singh Dallewal continued his fast for the fourth day today, senior police and civil officials tried to convince the farmer leader to end his fast at Faridkot.
Ferozepur Range IG Jaskaran Singh, along with Faridkot SSP Raj Pal Sandhu, today met Dallewal and requested him to end his fast.
Officials said the state government is seriously considering all their demands. Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan also met Dallewal and enquired about his health. He has been on a fast unto death since Saturday.
The BKU (Ekta-Sidhupur) has been holding protests in Amritsar, Mansa, Patiala, Faridkot and Bathinda and urging the state government to fulfil their demands. Jagjit Singh Dallewal is sitting on a fast-unto-death on the Amritsar-Bathinda National Highway.
