Flash floods triggered by a mountain rockslide near the Tibetan border killed nearly 100 people and left over 750 missing across Nepal and China on Wednesday.

The sudden torrent hit around 9 a.m. local time along the Bhote Koshi River, devastating Rasuwa, Dhading, Nuwakot, and Chitwan districts. The deluge destroyed bridges and damaged at least 12 hydropower plants.

As many as 95 people are dead in Nepal and 500 are  missing, including 133 Indian nationals and 80 security personnel (44 army soldiers).

In China and Tibet, 3 dead and 265 missing, according to state broadcaster CGTN.

Satellite imagery shows the flood originated 20 km northeast of the border when collapsed rock faces blocked the Lende River, sending water and debris surging into the Trisuli River network. Emergency teams face severe delays due to destroyed roads, while the Indian Embassy and Nepal Tourism Board have set up emergency helplines.
