RCMP lay charges after 8 years of murder

A second-degree murder charge has been laid against a BC man in connection with the 2018 homicide of 31-year-old Rodney Clement in Quesnel, BC.

On November 8, 2018, Clement was dropped off at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital suffering from significant injuries. He died as a result of his injuries, and investigators determined his death was the result of foul play.

Since 2018, E Division Major Crime Special Projects Unit has continued to pursue this investigation, with support from the Quesnel RCMP, North District Major Crime, and specialized police units from throughout the province.

On Saturday, August 22, 2026, the BC Prosecution Service approved a charge of second-degree murder against 54-year-old Shane Edison Fralic of Quesnel, BC, in connection with Clement’s death.

"For nearly eight years, our investigators have remained committed to seeking answers in Rodney Clement's death," said Supt. Bal Hansra, Acting Officer in Charge of E Division Major Crime. "This charge reflects the dedication and perseverance of those involved in the investigation and our ongoing commitment to pursuing justice for victims and their loved ones."
