In what could be said as a BJP's push in Punjab to woo the voters,  Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi is expected to visit Punjab in the coming weeks to inaugurate a series of infrastructure and development projects, according to federal Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu.

Bittu said the prime minister will travel to the state to launch key projects, including a major railway initiative, along with several other infrastructure developments aimed at boosting Punjab's growth. An exact date for the visit has not yet been announced.

The visit would mark Modi's first trip to Punjab since February, when he attended celebrations marking the 649th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas.

During that visit, Modi formally announced the renaming of Adampur Airport as Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport, Adampur, inaugurated the new terminal building at Halwara Airport near Ludhiana and later visited Dera Sachkhand Ballan.

Officials say the upcoming visit will focus on unveiling additional development and infrastructure projects across the state.

BJP is trying hard to strike a chord with the voters in Punjab who were dismayed with the party due to three controversial farm laws and a subsequent farm agitation which went on for an year. 

In 2022, PM Modi's visit created a bitterness in Punjab when his cavalcade which was travelled by road was allegedly stopped by the protesting farmers in Ferozepur district. 

Following the incident Modi's statement that he somehow managed to escape from the (agitators) was not received well in Punjab and the then Chief Minister (CM) Charanjit Singh Channi had to hold a lengthy presser to put forward state's point.

However, in 2022 assembly elections, BJP could not do well in the state winning only two seats.
