PM Modi speaks with Iranian President Pezeshkian
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by telephone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of dialogue to resolve regional tensions and ensure the free movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to India's Prime Minister's Office, Pezeshkian briefed Modi on recent developments in West Asia and the evolving regional situation. Modi stressed that disputes should be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue and called for continued efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability.
The Indian leader also underscored the strategic importance of uninterrupted maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, saying it is vital for India and the global economy.
In a post on X, Modi said he and Pezeshkian discussed the latest developments in West Asia and expressed hope that sustained diplomatic efforts would help secure lasting peace in the region.
