Vancouver Police arrest a car theft suspect with help from the driver he crashed into
Vancouver Police are recommending charges after the driver of a stolen Dodge Charger crashed into two vehicles, but failed to get away thanks to one of the other drivers.
Just after 7:00 a.m. yesterday, at Nanaimo Street and Kingsway, a white Dodge Charger collided with a Kia and a Tesla. When officers arrived, they found the Tesla driver restraining the suspect from the stolen vehicle. Police learned the suspect was intoxicated and had attempted to run from the scene but was stopped by the Tesla driver.
Further investigation revealed the Dodge Charger had been reported stolen, and the suspect was prohibited from driving Canada-wide.
The suspect was treated for minor injuries. Police thanked the Tesla driver for their assistance. Charges of possession of property obtained by crime, driving while disqualified, driving while prohibited, and breach of probation have been recommended to Crown Counsel.
