SPS Investigating Shots Fired in South Newton

Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating shots fired in a South Newton neighbourhood in the late morning of June 9.

On June 9, 2026, at approximately 10:44 am, SPS officers responded to a report of gunshots near 66 Avenue and 129 Street, Surrey, where an occupant from one vehicle was observed shooting at an occupant associated to another vehicle. Both vehicles fled the area. Upon arrival, police located at least two residences damaged by the gunshots. There have been no reported injuries.

The investigation is in its early stages and the motive for the shots fired is unknown, but it is believed to be targeted. It is not, however, believed to be extortion related.

SPS’s Major Crime Section (MCS) has taken over the lead on the investigation, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services (IFIS) will be in the area processing physical and digital evidence.

Anyone with information about this incident, including CCTV or dashcam footage, or who may know the identities of the suspects is asked to contact SPS’s non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 26-58183 (SP).
