Former CM Captain to campaign in Punjab assembly elections
Punjab BJP president Keval Singh Dhillon says former chief minister Capt. Amarinder Singh will play an active role in the party’s campaign for the 2027 Punjab assembly elections.
Speaking during his first visit to Ludhiana after assuming the state leadership, Dhillon said Amarinder has informed party leaders that he is fully fit and ready to take on any responsibility assigned by the BJP.
Dhillon described Amarinder as a senior and experienced leader whose guidance would benefit the party during the election campaign. He also said the BJP plans to contest all 117 assembly seats in Punjab, ruling out the possibility of an electoral alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal.
The BJP leader claimed the party’s support base is growing in both urban and rural areas and said workers have already begun outreach efforts in villages. He accused the Punjab government of failing to implement several federal schemes aimed at helping farmers.
