Four injured in boat crash in Kanaka Creek

Maple Ridge RCMP is currently investigating after an overnight boat crash in Maple Ridge. 

On June 2,  at approximately 8:15pm, Maple Ridge RCMP attended Kanaka Creek Park in the 23200 block of River Road for a report of a boat that crashed into a train bridge pillar on Kanaka Creek.

Officers on scene learned that four male occupants of the boat were on board when it crashed. Three of the occupants were transported to hospital, one with more serious injuries. All injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. 

Officers secured the scene and spoke with numerous individuals including the operator of the boat. Police also liaised with several agencies including CPKC and Transport Canada.

Maple Ridge RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation. The cause of the crash is still being investigated. All factors are being considered.
