Police are investigating after a motorcyclist is dead following a collision with a semi-truck. 

On Monday at approximately 4:40 a.m., Ladysmith RCMP responded to the southbound lanes of the Trans Canada Highway at Timberlands Rd after receiving a report of a collision between a motorcycle and semi-truck. Despite life-saving measures, the motorcyclist, a 40-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

An RCMP traffic reconstructionist attended the collision to assist with the investigation into the leading cause of the crash. The highway was re-opened at approximately 8:30 a.m. The investigation is ongoing.
