IHIT launches investigation following death in Langley
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) launches investigation in Langley after a suspicious death. The man has also been taken into custody.
On May 9, at approximately 2:44 p.m., the Langley RCMP received a report of a suspicious death at a residence in the 20800 block of 87 Avenue, Langley.
Officers from the Langley RCMP as well as first responders with BC Emergency Heath Services (BC EHS) attended the residence and located a 24-year-old woman deceased.
Based on initial observations at the scene, a 29-year-old man was taken into custody by members of the Langley RCMP.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has deployed and assumed conduct of the investigation. Investigators are liaising with the Langley RCMP, the BC Coroners Service and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to advance the investigation.
The woman and the man were in a relationship, and IHIT investigators are examining the evidence to determine whether criminality is a factor.
“While this investigation is in its preliminary stages, investigators believe this was an isolated incident,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT. “We are working to establish a timeline and the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death. IHIT would like to offer our condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the woman.”
