Protesters Plan Rally Outside Punjab Chief Minister’s Residence Over Drug Crisis, Arrests
Over 100 representatives from farmer, worker, and student organizations have announced plans to besiege the Sangrur residence of the Punjab Chief Minister on November 5. The decision was reached during a four-hour Action Committee meeting called to demand justice for activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, an end to the state’s worsening drug crisis, and the immediate release of arrested leaders.
Organizers expressed deep concern over the spread of illicit drugs across the state and criticized the government's response, accusing authorities of targeting activists rather than addressing the root causes. They condemned alleged police brutality and suppression of protests, calling for nationwide mobilization to press their demands and secure the release of detained community leaders.
