Military and civilian emergency response exercise, 'Maple Mayhem' , to take place in Chilliwack
The Department of National Defence (DND) and Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), in collaboration with federal and international partners, will conduct Capability Exercise MAPLE MAYHEM in Chilliwack, British Columbia, from October 25 to 30, to strengthen Canada’s preparedness and response capabilities for chemical, biological and radiological (CBR) emergencies.
Maple Mayhem will simulate a range of CBR emergency scenarios to test and evaluate how participating organizations detect, assess and respond to complex emergencies. The exercise will provide participating organizations, agencies, and government partners with realistic training opportunities to strengthen coordination, interoperability and decision-making across jurisdictions.
Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States will participate in the exercise as members of the Quadrilateral Group on Chemical, Biological, and Radiological National Security Threats (QUAD). The group provides a forum for participating countries to exchange best practices, compare national approaches, and identify capability gaps, strengthening their collective ability to respond to chemical, biological and radiological threats.
