Taxi driver stabbed in Winnipeg, one youth arrested

On September 25,  just before 9:00 p.m., East District General Patrol officers responded to the 1600 block of Regent Avenue West for the report of a stabbing.

The investigation determined that a male youth was a passenger in a taxicab when he became involved in a verbal altercation with the driver. The confrontation escalated and the driver was stabbed. The suspect then fled.

The driver attended the hospital on his own and was treated for multiple serious upper body injuries.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and identified a suspect.

A 16-year-old youth has been charged with Assault with a Weapon and Fail to Comply with Sentence and was detained in custody.
