White Rock & South Surrey Culture Crawl Draws Thousands to Celebrate Arts, Culture and Heritage

The annual White Rock & South Surrey Culture Crawl welcomed more than 5,000 attendees over the weekend, as residents and visitors explored local arts, culture, and heritage through more than 45 free activities across the Semiahmoo Peninsula on Oct. 3 and 4.

Hosted in partnership by the City of White Rock and City of Surrey, the two-day event featured more than 250 local artists, performers, and cultural contributors. Visitors enjoyed exhibits, hands-on workshops, live music, heritage experiences, and community markets in six neighbourhoods.

Highlights included the Mid-Autumn Festival of Cultural Connections presented by SOURCES, the Made on the Peninsula Art Market, and the Kaleidoscope Arts Festival, which all gave opportunities for visitors to connect directly with artists, makers, and cultural organizations throughout the community.

Indigenous culture and knowledge were an important part of the weekend. The Amelia Douglas Institute, BC Centre for Métis Culture and Language, offered visitors a chance to learn about Métis history, culture, and language, while Semiahmoo First Nation artist Joan Williams shared traditional knowledge through an engaging cedar weaving workshop.

“The Culture Crawl continues to showcase the incredible creativity, talent and cultural diversity that make our community such a vibrant place to live, work and visit,” said White Rock Mayor Megan Knight. “It was wonderful to see so many residents and visitors come out to support the talented artists, performers and cultural organizations that make the Peninsula so special.”

Dedicated volunteers generously shared their time, enthusiasm, and hospitality, helping visitors feel welcome throughout the weekend. Together, artists, performers, community organizations, volunteers, and event partners created a memorable celebration of art, culture, learning, and community connection, contributing to the success of the 2026 White Rock & South Surrey Culture Crawl.
