Bittu takes dig as Congress removes Warring and PPCC President
The Congress high command's decision to replace Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, Wednesday triggered a sharp verbal clash between Warring and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravneet Singh Bittu.
Reacting on X to Warring's exit ahead of the state's upcoming assembly campaign, Bittu criticized the move, framing it as a demonstration of Rahul Gandhi's "use and throw" policy.
Warring swiftly dismissed the characterization, asserting his loyalty as a steadfast party soldier rather than an opportunist. Warning Bittu that he was tangling with the wrong person, Warring reaffirmed his unyielding support for Gandhi—describing him as a leader for the entire nation and a symbol of hope—stating he would remain by his side through thick and thin.
The leadership restructuring comes as former Sangrur MP Vijay Inder Singla emerges as the front-runner to succeed Warring as state party president. Party sources indicate Singla was initially favored for the position earlier, though that appointment was temporarily held back following the BJP’s selection of Kewal Singh Dhillon to lead its provincial wing.
Strategists note that appointing a Hindu leader like Singla to head the state unit aims to balance regional party dynamics while appeasing several prominent Jat Sikh leaders harboring chief ministerial ambitions.
