Investigators from the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) are seeking additional victims after a woman was allegedly deceived through an online dating platform and had firearms stolen from her residence in Brampton.

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, the victim contacted Peel Regional Police after meeting a man online and communicating with him for several weeks. During an interaction earlier that day, the suspect allegedly stole keys to her residence and gun locker before returning to the home and stealing two lawfully owned firearms and ammunition.

Through investigation, Peel Regional Police identified the suspect as Jason Randolph Blake Bowden, 42, of no fixed address. Investigators also determined that Bowden is wanted by several police services across Canada and has an extensive criminal history spanning nearly two decades involving break and enters, thefts, and related offences.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, Peel Regional Police located Bowden in the area of Dundas Street West and Erin Mills Parkway in the city of Mississauga. He was arrested and charged with the  Criminal Code offences including possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order, possession of a Weapon Obtained by Crime, knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Breaking, Entering and Stealing a Firearm , Failure to Comply with a Probation Order, possession of Counterfeit Stamp, possession of Property Obtained by Crime. 

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice. Peel Regional Police will also work with policing partners across Canada in relation to outstanding warrants connected to the accused.

Investigators recovered both stolen firearms, ammunition, multiple fraudulent identification documents, and bank cards bearing various names believed to have been used as aliases.
