Police investigating an assault with weapon in downtown Prince George
Prince George RCMP is currently investigating an assault that occurred in the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue, leaving one person with minor injuries.
The incident occurred on Sunday, September 13th, when Prince George RCMP received a call from a security guard stating that they had been assaulted by an unknown male wielding an axe. The victim reported that, just after 9:00 p.m., while conducting routine patrols, they encountered a group of three males and one female. An altercation then broke out, and one of the males attacked the victim with an axe, causing minor injuries to their hand.
The assailant was described as a male, wearing a black hoodie and brown pants and riding a black or red bicycle. He was last seen heading towards 5th Avenue through the alleyways between 3rd and 5th Avenue. Members attended the scene quickly but were unable to locate the assailant.
“This act of violence toward a security guard is deeply concerning and unacceptable. Investigators will do everything they can to locate the person responsible” says Sgt. Craig Douglass.
This investigation remains ongoing.
