Two youth on motorcycle shot ASI in Punjab

A police officer escaped serious injury after being shot late Friday evening near Bhalla village in Punjab.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Jaswant Singh of the Amritsar Commissionerate Police was returning home to Ajnala after finishing his shift when two unidentified suspects on a motorcycle began tailing him.

Upon reaching a secluded stretch of road near Bhalla village, the assailants opened fire. The bullet pierced Singh's turban and grazed his head, causing minor injuries before he fell to the ground.

Passersby aided the officer and notified authorities, who transported Singh to a private hospital for treatment.

Senior police officials confirmed the incident and launched an investigation. Authorities are probing multiple angles, including the possibility of a targeted attack by a terrorist organization.

The suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting and remain at large.
