The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), secured a consecutive victory in the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) elections.

ABVP candidate Ankit Bidhan was elected council president, defeating his closest competitor, Adil Brar of the Aam Aadmi Party-backed ASAP, by a narrow margin. Gurman Singh Sidhu of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party, finished third in the presidential race.

The election outcome follows a recent endorsement from the Student Organisation of India (SOI), the student wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), which backed the ABVP candidate prior to the vote. Political analysts view the joint campaign and election result as a significant development ahead of the upcoming Punjab Legislative Assembly elections.

Voting took place across 191 polling booths on campus under heavy security, with nearly 500 police officers and three deputy superintendents deployed to oversee the process. More than 16,000 eligible student voters cast ballots to elect representatives for four executive posts—president, vice-president, secretary, and joint secretary—from  16 candidates.

Following the announcement at the university gymnasium hall, election officials confirmed the full slate of executive winners. Armaan Singh Bhinder was elected vice-president, Dhyan Singh Sameer secured the secretary position, and Vishal Bamal won the joint secretary post.
