City of White Rock earns fifth distinguished budget presentation award
For the fifth consecutive year, the City of White Rock has earned the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its 2026 budget document, referred to as the 2026-2030 Financial Plan.
“Earning the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fifth consecutive year is a significant achievement,” said Mayor Megan Knight. “Congratulations to the Finance Department for its ongoing commitment to ensuring the City’s budget remains transparent, accessible and aligned with the needs of our community.”
To receive the award, the City’s budget was assessed against nationally recognized standards and demonstrated excellence in four key areas: serving as a policy guide, financial plan, operations manual and communications tool. The budget also received special recognition for its strategic goals and strategies, a distinction granted when all reviewers assign the highest possible score in select categories.
According to the GFOA, there are more than 1,900 participants in the Budget Awards Program. Award recipients are recognized for advancing the quality of budgeting and serve as examples for other governments across North America.
