West Shore RCMP responds to fatal swimming incident

On August 17, at approximately 7:35 p.m., West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a swimmer in distress at Goldstream Falls in Goldstream Provincial Park, located at 3450 Trans-Canada Highway.

A 27-year-old man had been swimming near the waterfall when he went under the water and did not resurface. Bystanders pulled the man from the water and immediately began life-saving measures until police, BC Emergency Health Services and Langford Fire Department arrived. He was transported to hospital for further treatment.

Despite the collective efforts of bystanders and emergency personnel, the man later succumbed to his injuries.

West Shore  RCMP extends its condolences to the man’s family and friends. Police also thank the bystanders who acted quickly and provided life-saving measures in an effort to save him.
