Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)- a youth-led organization behind nationwide demonstrations over exam paper leaks in India has issued an ultimatum to union and state governments, threatening to resume intense protests unless all arrested students and demonstrators are immediately released and cleared of criminal charges.

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) said Monday that police in several states — including Assam, Bihar, and West Bengal — have been deliberately targeting and detaining student activists participating in rallies against alleged testing irregularities.

The group warned that failure to release those held and drop all registered cases will force it to launch a fresh wave of countrywide agitations.

The CJP noted that the ongoing detentions violate prior assurances given during talks with senior federal ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, who had reportedly promised that no punitive or strict legal action would be taken against peaceful protesters.
