Plan for temporary traffic impacts as Wiltse water upgrades enter next phase

The City's water infrastructure upgrades within the Wiltse neighbourhood is entering its next construction phase, with temporary road closures in place from July 20-27.

Construction activity will shift to Dartmouth Drive to install a new water main and replace aging infrastructure. This will require a series of temporary road closures and detours. Access to homes will be maintained throughout the project, and traffic control personnel will be on-site to help guide motorists and pedestrians safely through the area.

Traffic Impacts

Monday, July 20
Dartmouth Drive will be closed between Wiltse Boulevard and Balsam Avenue beginning at 7 a.m., including all intersections within this section. Access to the Wiltse neighbourhood will not be available from Dartmouth Drive. Traffic will be detoured via Pineview Road and Cedar Road. Adamson Drive will be open for local traffic. Access will be available to pedestrians along Dartmouth Drive.

Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22
The intersection of Balsam Avenue and Dartmouth Drive will be fully closed. Access will be available via Wiltse Boulevard and Pineview Road.

Thursday, July 23 and Friday, July 24
The intersection of Wiltse Boulevard and Dartmouth Drive will be fully closed. Access will be available via Balsam Avenue and Pineview Road.

Monday, July 27
Single-lane alternating traffic will be in place on Dartmouth Drive during paving operations. Access to both Wiltse Boulevard and Balsam will be available.

Please note that schedules may change due to unforeseen circumstances. Updated information will be posted daily on-site throughout the neighbourhood and communicated as work progresses. Crews will work hard to restore access over the weekend. Please follow the direction of on-site signage and possible detours. Maps of these detours are available to view at penticton.ca/roadwork.

Bus Services & Garbage Collection

BC Transit route #1 will be on a temporary detour from July 20-24 (Monday-Friday), with several stops affected along the route. Riders are reminded to visit bctransit.com for route information before travelling or call 1-844-442-2212. Further information is also available at penticton.ca/roadwork.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste collection will continue as scheduled. Residents should place carts at the curb as usual, with Waste Connections working with the construction contractor to maintain collection services throughout the project.

Staying Informed

Notices have been hand-delivered to nearby properties throughout the area. Residents will receive at least 48 hours' notice for planned service interruptions or access restrictions. For project updates and maps, visit penticton.ca/roadwork.
