City of Kamloops asks residents to pay property tax as deadline approaches
The City of Kamloops is reminding property owners that 2026 property taxes are due by Thursday, July 2. A provincially mandated 10% penalty will be applied to any unpaid balances starting Friday, July 3. The City does not have the authority to waive or adjust this penalty.
The City encourages residents to pay their property taxes through online banking, by mail, or using one of four secure City dropboxes. A full list of payment methods and hours is available at Kamloops.ca/PropertyTax. Another option is online credit card payments, available at Kamloops.ca/Payment. Please note that a non-refundable 2.75% convenience fee applies to all credit card transactions.
To assist with in-person payments, City Hall will offer extended hours starting today and will be open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm through July 2. In-person payments are also accepted at the Tournament Capital Centre, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. Both City Hall and the Tournament Capital Centre will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, for the Canada Day statutory holiday.
Home Owner Grant applications are due July 2 and residents must submit them directly through the provincial government each year either online at Gov.BC.ca/HomeOwnerGrant or by calling 1-888-355-2700. The City cannot assist with or complete Home Owner Grant applications for residents.
