Body recovered following fatal boating incident
Quesnel RCMP is updating the public that the body of a 17-year-old boy, who was presumed drowned following a boating incident, has been recovered.
On June 6, Quesnel RCMP received a report of a capsized vessel on Stony Lake, leaving four occupants in the water. Three individuals were able to safely make their way to shore; however, the operator of the boat did not resurface and despite initial search efforts was not located.
On June 9, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team attended Stony Lake and, through their search efforts, located and recovered the deceased.
“Our thoughts remain with the family, friends, and community as they navigate this difficult loss,” said Quesnel RCMP Detachment Commander, S/Sgt. Richard Weseen. “Thank you to Quesnel Search and Rescue, Prince George Conservation, Prince George RCMP, BC Emergency Health Services, and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team for their assistance.
