Punjab police issue LoC against Bikram Majithia
Punjab Police Monday issued a lookout circular (LoC) against senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia in connection with an alleged attack on the Majitha police station, according to information shared by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party on social media.
Police officials have not publicly commented on the development. However, the confirmation of the lookout circular was posted on the official X account of the Aam Aadmi Party.
Earlier in the day, the Amritsar Rural Police launched a major operation in connection with allegations that a group attacked the Majitha police station, vandalized property and attempted to forcibly free a detainee from police custody.
A police team led by Superintendent of Police Aditya Warrier conducted a raid at Majithia’s residence in the Green Avenue area of Amritsar. Police said Majithia was not present at the house when officers arrived.
The allegations relate to an incident at the Majitha police station in which police claim a detainee was forcibly sought to be released from custody following acts of vandalism and disorder. Details surrounding the incident and the specific charges against Majithia have not yet been officially disclosed.
The Shiromani Akali Dal has not immediately issued a detailed response to the latest police action.
The investigation remains ongoing.
