Indian diplomatic staff member found dead in Bangladesh
An Indian diplomatic staff member was found dead Tuesday inside the Indian mission premises in Chattogram, Bangladesh, police said. Police launch investigation.
The deceased was identified as Naren Dhar, originally from Chandigarh, India, who was serving as an assistant protocol officer (APO) at the Indian mission in the port city.
Chattogram Police Commissioner Aminur Rashid told reporters that Dhar, believed to be in his late 30s, was found inside a washroom on the second floor of the building that previously housed the visa centre.
Authorities said the body was recovered from within the diplomatic compound on Tuesday, but no official statement had been issued by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka or the Assistant High Commission in Chattogram as of late Tuesday.
Police said preliminary findings suggest the death may have been caused by cardiac arrest, though officials emphasized that the exact cause would only be confirmed after a post-mortem examination.
Assistant Police Commissioner Aminur Rashid said investigators are awaiting the autopsy report before drawing any conclusions.
