Trounce Alley upgrades complete revitalization of Blood Alley Square
The renewal of Trounce Alley — one of Vancouver’s first streets — is now complete, marking the final step in the revitalization of Blood Alley Square in Gastown. Residents and visitors can now enjoy this renewed public space throughout the year.
The Trounce Alley upgrades began in November 2025 and focused on rehabilitating the alley surface to align with and complement the design of the adjacent Blood Alley Square, which was completed in 2024.
With Trounce Alley complete, Blood Alley Square now fully delivers on its revitalization vision. The renewed square includes a performance stage to support local arts and cultural programming, fixed seating for gathering as well as new globe lighting and new trees.
This work is part of the City’s ongoing investment in public space improvements and essential infrastructure upgrades in Gastown, which will be guided by the recently approved Gastown Public Spaces Plan to support a more vibrant, accessible, and resilient neighbourhood.
