City of Surrey's Free Waste Drop-Off program is on
To support spring cleaning, the City of Surrey is once again offering its Free Waste Drop-Off program, providing residents with a convenient, no-cost option to dispose of unwanted items.
From May 4 to Sept. 30, households can drop off up to 100 kg of waste for free at the Central Surrey and North Surrey recycling and waste centers. Each household is eligible for one free visit during the program period, including disposal of large items such as up to four mattresses.
“The Free Waste Drop-Off program is an important tool in our ongoing efforts to reduce illegal dumping in Surrey,” said Mayor Brenda Locke.
She added, “By giving residents, a simple, no-cost way to dispose of unwanted items properly, we’re making it easier to do the right thing and helping keep our neighbourhoods clean and safe.”
The Free Waste Drop-Off program is available at the Central Surrey Recycling and Waste Centre (6711- 154 St.) and the North Surrey Recycling and Waste Centre (9770 -192 St.), with conditions conditions like proof of Surrey residency is required, limit of one visit per household , loads over 100 kg are subject to regular fees, commercial and business vehicles are not permitted
All acceptable recyclables such as electronics, metals, appliances, books, and clothing can be dropped off for free during the five-month period.
