In what could be said to be a pre-election bid to woo the Punjab farmers, Punjab BJP's Vice-President Subash Sharma along with Haryana Chief Minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini met Union Minister J P Nadha and demanded expansion of National Fertilisers Limited (NFL). 

 The NFL plant in Nangal is the primary source of income for many families. Political analysts believe that by raising the demand to expand this plant, the BJP is trying to connect with workers, traders, and contractors whose livelihoods depend on it. 

Sharma contested the Lok Sabha Elections from Anandpur Sahib in 2024 but lost. Nangal falls in Anandpur Sahib constituency.
