Mansa conducts blackout, air raid mock drill as part of civil defence preparedness exercise
Authorities in Punjab carried out a coordinated blackout and civil defence mock drill in Mansa district on Friday night as part of preparedness measures for potential emergency situations.
The exercise, described by officials as a simulated air raid response, involved multiple agencies including local administration, police, civil defence personnel, the Punjab Home Guard, fire services, health workers and National Cadet Corps volunteers.
Officials said the drill was designed to test emergency response systems and train personnel to minimize damage and ensure civilian safety in the event of an aerial attack scenario.
The simulation was carried out at a local college, where a mock air strike was staged. A siren was sounded to initiate a blackout across the area, marking the start of the exercise.
Emergency response teams, including ambulances and fire brigade units, were deployed from nearby locations and arrived at the simulated impact site to provide rapid assistance to “injured” individuals as part of the drill.
Authorities said the exercise lasted approximately 15 minutes and included coordinated evacuation and emergency medical response procedures.
Officials said such drills are intended to raise public awareness, improve readiness and ensure coordinated response among multiple agencies during potential crisis situations.
Residents were encouraged to remain alert and cooperate with safety protocols during emergency preparedness exercises.
